This Safe Moving and Handling course is designed as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those who are new to work, returning to work, or who want specific manual handling training, as well as a refresher course. Reasons for safe manual handling, risk assessments, manual handling equipment, and how to implement safe manual handling concepts are only a few of the topics covered.
Who is this qualification for: Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

Objectives

By the end of the manual handling training course the student will be able to:

  • Explain what is meant by the term ‘manual handling’ and give examples.
  • Explain how manual handling can cause injury and give examples.
  • State the principles for controlling manual handling risks and apply these in a practical context.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of the value of conducting a manual handling assessment and what employees can expect of such assessments.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations.
Assessment method: This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination and a practical examination.
